Recupac

Recupac operates in Chile as a provider of waste management and recovery services. Founded in 1989, the company has expanded by progressively increasing its recycling and waste management capacity, reaching up to four plants located in different areas of the country.

Recupac can manage over 100,000 tons of materials per year, including cardboard, plastic, wood, metals, hazardous materials, organic materials, and packaged goods. It aims to give these materials a second life through reuse, energy recovery solutions, and biomass production.

Tecnofer integrates into Recupac's operations with a solution for unpacking packaged food products. The customer's expressed need was to transform their brand protection activity into a circular operation, recovering the separated materials to give them a second life.

The Project

The project developed for Recupac aimed to create a system for depackaging food waste for material recovery.

By analyzing packaging (bottles, cans, containers in plastic, aluminum, and Tetra Pak) and their contents, the Tecnofer team tailored the ideal depackaging system to the customer's needs.

This not only achieved the goal of brand protection but also ensured that the separated materials, namely packaging and contents, could continue their lifecycle according to the company's recovery and recycling policies.
