In 2024, a major Italian Food & Beverage company once again chose Tecnofer's Depackaging technology, installing a new depackaging system at one of its plants in northern Italy.

The decision to reinvest in this solution stemmed from the excellent results achieved with the first system, already operational at the Milan plant. Satisfied with the system’s performance and efficiency, the company decided to extend the process to this second production site in Veneto. But that’s not all: a third plant is already under construction for the facility in Piedmont, demonstrating a strategy aimed at optimizing waste management on multiple fronts.

The Project

In this case as well, the client needed to manage production waste consisting of single-packaged food products, particularly fresh pasta and stuffed pasta such as tortelli and lasagna. The goal was to effectively separate the contents from the packaging, improving process efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

To ensure maximum efficiency, the plant was installed in a dedicated area of the Verona facility, separate from the production line and exclusively designated for waste management. The depackaging system, with a processing capacity of approximately 4-5 tons per hour, works to separate the internal product from the external packaging, mainly composed of flexible plastic in the form of bags and trays.

This solution not only optimizes resource recovery but also creates new opportunities for material valorization. The separated product can be repurposed in industries such as energy or animal feed, contributing to a more sustainable and circular process.

Beyond the environmental benefits, the company has gained a significant economic advantage: waste management has been greatly improved, leading to a substantial reduction in disposal costs and minimizing raw material waste.

Through this strategy, the client has turned a challenge into an opportunity, optimizing production processes and reaffirming its commitment to effective, reliable, and sustainable technology.
