Italian excellence in recycling

An Italian company specialized in the management and valorization of industrial and urban waste, founded with the goal of transforming waste into resources, has chosen Tecnofer for the development of a washing line for plastics and metals.

The company has been operating for years in the treatment of special, hazardous, and non-hazardous waste, with a focus on environmental sustainability and technological innovation.

The company offers a wide range of services covering the entire waste management cycle: collection, transport, treatment, recovery, and disposal. Particular attention is given to material recycling, in line with the principles of the circular economy and European waste regulations.

The Project:
Washing plant for plastics and shredded metals

The goal of the project was to install an integrated system capable of processing plastics and shredded metals, ensuring high production volumes and a degree of cleanliness suitable for industrial reuse.

Materials and Process

The plant processes two main streams:

  • Plastics: containers, tanks, and cisterns in PP/HDPE, pre-shredded by a single-shaft shredder. The initial contamination (residual liquids, paper, sand, soil, metal fragments) was highly variable.
  • Metals: metallic containers and tanks with similar dimensions and contamination characteristics.

For plastics, the plant includes stages of intensive washing, separation of heavy contaminants, and final drying. For metals, treatment is limited to intensive cleaning and mechanical drying. Tecnofer has designed a dedicated section equipped with a water filtration and recirculation system to reduce water consumption and ensure process consistency.

Benefits

The adoption of the Tecnofer line has generated significant advantages to the client:

    1. Operational flexibility: the ability to process plastics and metals in the same plant (bypassing certain stages), drastically reducing initial investment and expanding recovery opportunities.
    2. Product quality: plastics and metals are delivered with a high degree of cleanliness and controlled moisture, increasing the commercial value of the secondary raw materials.
    3. Higher productivity.
    4. Reduced consumption: the filtration and recirculation system limits water use, lowering operating costs and environmental impact.

Thanks to this investment, the client strengthens its commitment to sustainability. The new plant allows the complete recovery cycle of discarded containers and tanks, turning complex waste into high-value resources.

The collaboration with Tecnofer demonstrates how the synergy between technological expertise and environmental vision can generate tangible results: more efficient processes, reduced disposal costs, lower ecological impact, and a competitive edge in the recycling market.
